ABOUT MONTESSORI
Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori was an Italian educator who is extremely well-known for her educational method that is structured on the way that children naturally learn.
She opened the first Montessori school over a century ago in Rome, and today there are thousands of schools all over the world that have followed her method of teaching.
Maria Montessori believed that children should be given a certain amount of independence in their learning environment. She believed that the school systems during her time was too strict and had to follow certain guidelines that not every child was capable of doing.
Maria went to school to study medicine because she believed that it was a male-dominated field and she wanted to make a change. However, her father wanted her to become a teacher. Eventually, after completing her education, she decided to become an educator and later developed which we now know as Montessori education.
